Who would have thought that such a tiny device could give a child so much freedom?
Victoria was only 2 years old when Type 1 diabetes entered our lives. Overnight, our world became insulin doses, sleepless nights, and endless decisions.
For five years, we managed diabetes with insulin pens day and night. Then Medtrum changed our everyday life.
One of our biggest concerns was that Victoria is a very slim child. We worried that the steel needle might be uncomfortable for her. In reality, it is so tiny that she does not feel it at all.
After speaking with other parents of children living with T1D, we also learned that many families experience fewer occlusions with Medtrum. That has certainly been our experience too. It stays in place really well and suits Victoria’s active lifestyle.
Today, she plays rugby, netball, loves swimming, and enjoys taking baths without constantly thinking about disconnecting devices. Most of the time, she does not even notice she is wearing the pump.
Perhaps the greatest gift Medtrum has given our family is peace of mind. Victoria gets to focus on being a child again, and we finally get to sleep more peacefully.
We have now been using Medtrum insulin pump for two years, and it has truly become part of our daily life.
To every family starting this path: life with T1D can still be joyful, active, and full of possibilities.
